ELWIN
Raye British Wool Cardigan Peat
NEW AW26 OPEN FOR PREORDER
The Raye cardigan is made from certified, fully traceable British wool. We use the undyed fleece from a single breed of native Bluefaced Leicester sheep, which is spun for us in Yorkshire and knitted in London - a truly British knit. To achieve the peat colour, we selected the rarer, darker fleece to create a natural brown with a shades of grey, brown and cream giving it a rich depth.
Our AW26 spin of yarn is being knitted right now and will be ready to ship by the end of August. Wear it with our knitted vest in the same natural peat for our take on the modern twinset.
The Raye cardigan has a boxy, swingy silhouette and a straight hem with our signature deep rib at the hem and cuffs. It's slightly cropped to finish at the hip. The minimal, modern design combines heritage knitwear details at the seams inspired by English gansey jumpers. It has a beautiful drape and lustre which is characteristic of the breed.
Finished with natural buttons made from nuts which come from the last button maker in the UK. All sewn with cotton thread so that the whole knit is completely biodegradable and can return to soil at the end of it's long and useful life.
Constructed using the traditional knitting process of fully fashioning whereby each piece of the cardigan is knit separately and then linked together and finished by hand by our partner factory a few miles from the studio.
Made in England in small batches.
